With the onslaught of publicity and commotion about swine flu fears, aggressive measures being taken in schools and workplaces to prevent contagion, and daily reports of people suffering, reminders to spiritually defend thought from being influenced by prevalent concerns cannot be too frequent.
Keep your spiritual armor on!
A strong protection from swine flu is a spiritual understanding of your infallible health as a beloved and secure child of God. Your individuality as a child of God is wholly immune to swine flu. A spiritual idea of God can't get it.
When aware of the swirling fears about catching the flu, I remember the story of the three Hebrew boys cast into the fiery furnace, recounted in the Old Testament. The flames were fierce and wild. But the boys were not touched. They walked through the fire and came out without a single hair singed.
While in the furnace, the King noticed a fourth figure with them, a presence commonly identified as the Christ. The boys obviously stayed in such a heightened spiritual state of mind, that their spiritual mindedness totally neutralized any effect from those flames. Their spiritual mindedness protected them.
The same rule works for us today. Spiritual mindedness neutralizes all the germs of fear, worry and concern swirling about us coming from other people, the media, doctors and the government. In a right state of mind, those germs do not affect us. They have no impact on our thought, our health, the body, our well being. They are as nothing. Just like Christ was with those boys in the heated flames, Christ is with us wherever we go. Christ protects us. Christ defends us. Christ knows what to do to keep us safe and well.
So, have no fear of the "flames" leaping up today in the form of flu fears. They are powerless. They are nothing to fear. They are as nothing to the spiritually inspired consciousness.
Keep your armor of protection on. Stay spiritually minded. Pray for your own safety and well being. Pray for your neighbor's safety and well being.
In a right state of mind, we can walk out of this "furnace" of error without a single hair singed on our head--without a trace that anything happened in the first place.

Anticipate health
Have you noticed recent headlines concerning swine flu? They certainly are lessons on the importance of avoiding self-fulfilling prophecies.
Article headlines these days take as a given that swine flu will cause widespread illness this winter. “Experts” aren’t sure how many people will be hit, but the mental picture they paint is not pleasant no matter how you look at it from their point of view.
These types of alarms are calls for conscientious metaphysicians everywhere to defend the population from unnecessary suffering.
Swine flu pandemic should not be a foregone conclusion. It is not imperative. It is spiritually stoppable and preventable. It doesn’t need to happen.
But we cannot sit on our mental laurels and be passive observers. The fear and worry circulating in public thought about the flu needs to be neutralized and replaced with calm and a secure understanding of God’s omnipresent care and protection.
God’s infinite love is a most powerful influence on the health and well being of mankind. This love is always active on everyone’s behalf, shielding from harm, protecting from contagion, and providing spiritual immunity to material infection. As children of God, we do not live in a chaotic universe of mindless unmerciful forces. We live in a universe of divine Love, where an all intelligent Mind guides and governs the well being of all creatures.
The current growing fear in public thought can be counteracted with an even stronger sense of God’s omnipresent Love that protects one and all from any type of pandemic. An understanding of spiritual truth is the most powerful vaccination against contagion on earth. And it is here to bless one and all.
In preparing for the winter season a few months away, I’ve decided to anticipate health, peace, safety, protection, calm, and well being. I'm striving to abide in a consciousness of spiritual love that knows no fear and is not exposed to any harmful influences.
There is no fear in Love, God, because in Love, there is nothing to fear, not even swine flu.
I’m looking forward to a winter of peace, health and harmony. What are you expecting?

Swine flu update
Good work with your prayers! Swine flu fears are rapidly dissipating. Experts say the contagion is not the pandemic they fear and media headlines are not so alarming.
Don’t entertain for an instant that it was anything less than consecrated prayer by many around the globe that stopped a possible pandemic. It was.
Prayer-warriors are unsung heroes on the landscape of earthly experience. When they get busy and do their metaphysical work, alarms of error die down, just like we’ve seen with the swine flu hysteria. People involved act more intelligently and make better decisions.
Observers, ignorant of the power of prayer, make summary judgments like, “It was overblown. It isn’t that serious.” and so on. But the fact is, at first, it did appear very serious to those caught up in the panic. Scientific prayer turned the mental tide on the fear and sucked the oomph out of its claims, causing it to die down and dissipate just as we’ve seen.
Prayer is powerful stuff. It can change the world, and it doesn’t take large numbers of people to do it. The truth in the prayer is the power, not the person uttering the prayer.
It’s fun to be part of a spiritual movement that is making such a huge difference in the world today with its efforts. I can’t think of a greater Cause to unite with. Good work!

Swine flu and contagion
With fear of Swine flu running rampant in public thought, it’s been important to defend oneself from the belief of contagion.
It’s helpful to remember that one person does not have to get sick because their neighbor is ill, that there is no law of God that says disease has to spread, and we have Christian Science to check beliefs of contagion and stop them from having an effect.
Mary Baker Eddy, the Discoverer and Founder of Christian Science, made some astute observations about contagion. She wrote,
We weep because others weep, we yawn because they yawn, and we have smallpox because others have it; but mortal mind, not matter, contains and carries the infection. When this mental contagion is understood, we shall be more careful of our mental conditions, and we shall avoid loquacious tattling about disease, as we would avoid advocating crime. Science and Health
The words “mental contagion” explains how contagion works.
Medical theory teaches contagion via germs, viruses and bacteria. Christian Science explains that germs have no more power than belief gives them. It’s fear of disease that needs to be guarded against. A consciousness of spiritual truth is effective protection against contagion, even more so than washing hands and wearing face masks.
Because the human body is human consciousness, anything that does not get into thought, cannot get into the body. Through prayer we can keep the thought-germs of Swine flu out of thought, and thus protect the body.
I’ve flown in airplanes quite a bit this week to lecture in different parts of the country. I have not naively boarded planes and mingled amongst the crowds unaware of popular fears at the moment regarding the spread of Swine flu. I have actively prayed to protect myself and those around me from these fears, and I’m enjoying my flights accordingly. I have absolutely no fear of the disease, and am grateful to see fellow passengers calm about it too.
Spiritual consciousness of Truth is immunity to contagion. Truth is God, and God is all. In God, there are no Swine flu germs. We circulate in the omnipresence of God wherever we go when our thinking is centered on God, filled up with spiritual truth and rejoicing in the omnipresence of Love. A consciousness of spiritual reality is like an impenetrable armor to current fears and concerns concerning Swine flu.
We have a choice. We can decline to participate in the popular fear. We can choose to stay healthy and also bless those around us with calm, peace and loving assurance that all is well in the sanctity and security of Love in which we all circulate together.
There is no contagion in God’s Kingdom. Love is all. Good is everywhere. There is no room or space for evil to occupy in God’s allness.
Eddy also wrote,
"Admitting only such conclusions as you wish realized in bodily results, you will control yourself harmoniously. When the condition is present which you say induces disease, whether it be air, exercise, heredity, contagion, or accident, then perform your office as porter and shut out these unhealthy thoughts and fears. Exclude from mortal mind the offending errors; then the body cannot suffer from them." Science and Health
So, no need to wait around and see what happens. Be an active participant in stopping unnecessary fear of Swine flu by not fearing it yourself! It’s time for the current show to stop and go away. God is in control of the environment we live in, and divine Love fills the air we breathe with health, harmony and peace.

From glory to glory...
Have you noticed that, from a material perspective, its one tragedy after another on the world scene?
At the dawn of the new millennium, millions of people feared Y2K disasters when the clocked ticked midnight on December 31, 1999. Then we had the dotcom bust, the terrorist attacks on September 11th, war in Iraq, SARS, tsunamis, floods, and recently the economic malaise, and now Swine flu.
It helps to get a spiritual perspective to see through these calamities in order to keep one’s sanity!
Life is not about dealing with one catastrophe after another. Life is about moving from one glorious insight into the nature of God to the next.
God is a source of supply for every need humanity faces. Challenges are our opportunity to turn to God and find the supply that meets the need. We do not have to stay stuck in despair and discouragement. We can intelligently deal with any looming trouble and successfully conquer it with God’s help.
I love the words of Hymn 65 in the Christian Science Hymnal by Frances Havergal:
From glory unto glory,
Be this our joyous song;
From glory unto glory,
'Tis Love that leads us on;
As wider yet and wider,
The rising splendors glow,
What wisdom is revealed to us,
What freedom we may know.
Every time we conquer a fear, we glorify God. Every time we spread comfort and love in our neighborhood, we glorify God. Every time we pray and find peace, we glorify God. We have unlimited opportunities to glorify God everyday.
When we cave to fear and worry, we do not glorify God. Quite the opposite. We contribute to despair.
Choose to glorify God today! Side with God and be a positive light of hope and healing.
Life is not about moving from trouble to trouble, but about moving from one inspired idea to the next.

Swine flu
Oh mercy, headlines are filled with fear of a swine flu pandemic breaking out across the continent.
Now is not the time to watch and see what happens, but to determine what happens by metaphysically treating the population’s thought with spiritual truth that nullifies the fear and stops the flu.
Like a rock thrown into a pond sends ripples to the outer banks, our individual prayers leaven thought across North America to bring about peace and preserve health.
Your prayer makes a difference! And I know there are hundreds of prayer warriors that read this blog regularly. So, let’s jump in and help out, although you’re probably already on the job…
I find great comfort in Psalms 91, especially these two verses:
"Because thou hast made the Lord, which is my refuge, even the most High, thy habitation; There shall no evil befall thee, neither shall any plague come nigh thy dwelling." Psalm 91
I pray to see that all people dwell under the government of the one Mind, God, divine Love, whose omnipresence protects and preserves the health and well being of each man, woman and child.
I pray to see that there is no space in the omnipresence of divine Love for flu to circulate or even exist. Love is all. Good is all. God is all.
I have confidence that when we take refuge in the truth that God, good is all, our mental/spiritual position dissolves fears on behalf of all mankind, removes cause for concern, and demonstrates that there is no reason for concern. Any evidence of swine flu disappears.
The spirituality of each individual is their protection from any belief of materiality, whether called swine flu, cold, or some other belief of contagion.
No one is a vulnerable mortal, but a forever protected immortal.
It can all stop now.
Amen.
