Prayer for Haiti

Amidst the mass humantarian disaster Haiti currently faces because of the horrible earthquake that rocked the country two days ago, it is well to remember that our prayers make a difference.

If one is not physically in the country and does not have any personal contact with a resident of that area, the catastrophe can feel remote, distant, and not relevant to one's experience. But it is. All of us have a duty and responsibility to reach out with love, care, compassion and aid to our neighbor in need. And with the breakdown in time and space modern communication technology has facilitated, everyone in the world is one of our neighbors today.

Money is needed to repair broken cities and feed hungry people. Hundreds of channels have opened to send that type of help.

Prayer is also needed, and makes a difference.

Each citizen of that region is as close as our thoughts. We can help them by seeing them wrapped in the arms of divine Love, supported, sustained and comforted by the infinite resources of God. When we pray to take their fear away and help them think clearly, their collective consciousness does lose its fear, calms, quiets and hears the divine wisdom that is necessary to rebuild quickly, find shelter, be fed and restore harmony.

There is no time or space in this world that can limit God's care. There is one Mind, and we are all included in it's all-encompassing love. The help the Haitians need is as close as their thoughts too.

There is a need to understand this reality better so all of humanity feels its healing influence. Now is a good time to jump in and increase humanity's collective understanding of this truth so our neighbors in Haiti can bounce back from this calamity and end up in a better place than ever before.

Your prayer does make a difference. Have no doubt!

“God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble. Therefore will not we fear, though the earth be removed, and though the mountains be carried into the midst of the sea; though the waters thereof roar and be troubled, though the mountains shake with the swelling thereof” (Ps. 46:1–3).

Thank you Evan for these supporting ideas for the people of Haiti. What I am sharing here was also shared with the Daily Life today.
My connection with Haiti came quite unexpected. A dear friend was just visiting from Texas, and her son had located to Haiti months ago to begin a career as a freelance journalist and supporter of the Haitians. She was flying back home to Texas when the earthquake happened. My heart went out to her, her son, and the Haitians. I immediately began praying that God was in the midst of Haiti–Love was in the midst of Haiti, Life was in the midst of Haiti, Truth was in the midst of Haiti, Mind was in the midst of Haiti–using all of the synonyms for God referenced in the Bible. This Love in the midst of Haiti is embracing, comforting, guiding, inspiring each of her sons and daughters–a presence that is felt by each individual there. This Life is a power greater than any tragedy. This Truth is a foundation for regeneration, rebuilding, reconstruction. I kept my friend’s son close to my thoughts and prayers knowing that he was there for a purpose; his compassion, strength, integrity, and courage were intact–expressed now and forever. I refused to allow fear or doubt to creep into my thought. Soon the U.S. Embassy contacted my dear friend informing her that her son was indeed alive and would be in touch. He has since been interviewed by PBS and CNN as an on-the-ground witness to the state of conditions in Haiti–a vital resource to the entire world for information during this time of chaos and destruction. I continue to support him and all of Haiti, knowing that Love’s presence–in the midst–will meet all human needs.
